Master of Arts Human Resource Management

The Master of Arts Human Resource Management is a postgraduate program offered by the University of Plymouth, in collaboration with HKU SPACE. The program aims to equip students with the necessary skills, competencies, and knowledge for effective, ethical, and contemporary human resource management in a business and organizational context.


Programme Overview

The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of human resource management, including the strategic role of HR, employment relations, and employment law. The program also covers topics such as people management strategies, ethical resourcing, and delivering change in a contemporary workplace.


Target Student Group

The program is suitable for HR practitioners who wish to upskill and further their knowledge in higher-level strategic human resource topics, particularly those with a global perspective of HRM. Non-HR professionals who have an interest in furthering their knowledge in people management are also welcome to apply.


Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of the program, graduates should have developed:

Programme Details

The program consists of five modules, including:


  1. People Management Strategies in Context
  2. Employment Relations and Employment Law
  3. Ethical Resourcing
  4. Delivering Change in a Contemporary Workplace
  5. Capstone Project

Assessment

Each module is assessed through a combination of assignments, case studies, and presentations. The capstone project requires students to undertake an independent research project, which is assessed through a research proposal and a project report.


Award

Upon successful completion of the program, students will be awarded the Master of Arts Human Resource Management by the University of Plymouth.


Venue

The program is delivered at the Admiralty Learning Centre, United Learning Centre, Fortress Tower Learning Centre, or Island East Campus.

  • Will there be face-to-face classes? All modules, except for the Capstone Project, are taught by Plymouth-endorsed HKU SPACE teachers. The teaching of these modules will be conducted in face-to-face mode or via virtual teaching if traveling is not feasible due to uncontrollable circumstances such as the pandemic.

Fee and Entry Requirements

  • The total fee for the program is HK$118,000, paid in five installments.
  • Applicants should have a bachelor's degree, awarded by a recognized institution, of at least second-class honors, or a professional qualification recognized as equivalent to a bachelor's degree.
  • If the degree or equivalent qualification is from an institution where the language of teaching and assessment is not English, applicants shall provide evidence of English proficiency, such as an overall band of 6.5 or above in the IELTS or an overall score of 90 or above in the TOEFL iBT.
