Specific Entry Requirements
- 30 ECTS in Occupational Therapy or in another subject (i.e., nursing, physiotherapy) from a foreign institution.
Outcomes
Learning Objectives
The student should, on completion of the course, be able to:
- Analyse and discuss the consequences of different health status and cultural aspects
- Explain and analyse key components in healthcare and rehabilitation from a global perspective
- Describe inter-professional and international perspectives of health and rehabilitation
- Understand and have knowledge of Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR)
- Understand and have knowledge of the World Health Organisation's (WHO's) Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's)
Content
The course has two modules:
Interprofessional and International Perspectives on Health and Rehabilitation (1.5 credits)
- Grading scale: GU
- Module 1 discusses the applications of CBR or other rehabilitation in different countries, including the organisation and access to healthcare and rehabilitation in societies, at home, and in institutions. This also includes ethical and socioeconomic perspectives related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's).
Internationalisation at Home - Rehabilitation in Theory and in Practice (1.5 credits)
- Grading scale: GU
- Module 2 entails internationalisation at the home university of each student, where students communicate their knowledge on key components important for high-quality healthcare, as well as the student's particular professional identity from a global perspective, to other peers.
Teaching Methods
The teaching is based on a problem-oriented and collaborative approach to learning, in which the tasks provide opportunities for the students to take active responsibility for their individual learning. The used teaching methods include lectures, seminars, group work, and case studies, as well as preparations and presentations in a way of the student's own choosing for Module 2 (e.g., film). The examiner decides whether, and if so how, absence from compulsory course elements can be made up.
Examination
The course examination is as follows:
- Module 1: Interprofessional and International Perspectives on Health and Rehabilitation (1.5 ECTS): A poster presentation carried out in a group.
- Module 2: Internationalisation at Home - Rehabilitation in Theory and in Practice (1.5 ECTS): An individual written abstract with a plan for a presentation at the home university.
- Grading scale: Pass/Fail.

- The course will not be credited in a degree together with another course the student has completed and passed, which completely or partly corresponds to the contents of this course. The following courses are partly overlapping: 1EE021, Community- and home-based rehabilitation - Cultural Perspectives (international students), 7.5 ECTS, and 1XX011, Community- and home-based rehabilitation - Cultural Perspectives (Swedish students), 7.5 ECTS.
