Introduction to the Audiology Program

The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences (SHRS) at the University of Pittsburgh offers a Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree program. This program is designed to educate health care professionals who will become leaders and innovators in the field of audiology.

Program Overview

• The AuD program is a residential program that takes four years to complete, including 11 terms and three summer terms.
• The program is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
• The program focuses on evidence-based instruction and extensive clinical exposure from the first day, with access to more than 40 different clinical sites.
• Students will participate in a three-term externship, equivalent to 2,000 clinical experience hours.

Application and Admission

• The application for the fall term opens on July 15, and the deadline for submission is January 15 of the following year.
• It is strongly recommended to submit the application by December 15 to allow time for the verification process.
• The program requires a full-time commitment and a minimum of 101 credits to complete.

• Students who successfully complete the program will also meet the clinical practicum requirements for the Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) and/or American Board Certification in Audiology (ABA).
