Paramedic Program

The Paramedic Program at Creighton University's College of Nursing is an intensive 11-month program that combines rigorous coursework with hands-on learning. The program is designed to prepare students for the National Registry of EMTs certification exam and a career as a paramedic.

Program Overview

The program consists of:

• Approximately 390 hours of classroom lecture
• 120 hours of lab/simulation
• 675 hours of practicum time The program is offered on-site at Creighton's Omaha campus.

Admission Requirements

To apply, students must have:

• A current EMT certification (state or national) in good standing
• A valid CPR certification at the healthcare provider or professional rescuer level
• High school or college transcripts
• A resume
• A short essay
• At least two references Students must also:
• Provide a copy of their driver's license or other government-issued photo ID
• Complete a comprehensive certified background check
• Be in compliance with the immunization requirements for Creighton Health Sciences students
• Have a reliable laptop that can be used throughout the program

Program Costs

The total cost of the program, including tuition and associated University fees, is $10,500. Payment is due in full 60 days before the course start date. A payment plan is available for students enrolled in the program for certification preparation only.

Career Opportunities

After completing the program, graduates are eligible to take the National Registry EMT certification exam and can pursue careers as:

• 911 paramedics with municipal, fire-based, or third-service EMS
• Emergency department paramedics or ED Technicians in hospital settings
• Event or on-site paramedics (stadiums, manufacturing, remote sites)
• Correctional health paramedics in jail/prison medical units
• EMS communications or dispatcher roles

Accreditation

The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions (CoAEMSP).
