MSc Construction Project Management

The MSc Construction Project Management is designed to enhance understanding of managing projects and support construction professionals in practice and client organisations. It is aimed at architects, surveyors, services engineers, civil engineers, construction managers, and existing project managers who wish to formalise their training on the client and supply side.

Entry

Entry Requirements

  • An honours degree of 2:2 or above is normally required.
  • Relevant professional experience and/or equivalent qualifications may be considered on an individual basis.
  • International students must have a minimum overall IELTS (Academic) score of 6.5 with 5.5 in each component.

University of Ibadan Direct Entry Route

UWE Bristol's relationship with the University of Ibadan, Nigeria, allows for direct entry into the second semester of this course after completing a construction project management short course at the University of Ibadan.


UWE Bristol's International College

International students who do not meet the academic or English language requirements can qualify by completing preparatory study at UWE Bristol's International College.


English Language Support

Pre-sessional English courses are available for students who meet the academic requirements but require additional language support.


Structure

Content

The course is structured to support exploration of the nature of projects in relation to organisations and their commercial and public environment. Modules include:


  • Project Management Principles
  • BIM in Design Co-ordination
  • BIM in Construction Operations
  • Sustainability in the Built Environment
  • Managerial Finance for the Built Environment
  • Construction Project Management Practice
  • Construction Procurement and Law
  • Modern Methods of Construction
  • Dissertation

Learning and Teaching

Teaching usually takes place on two whole days a week, with lectures, seminars, and other supporting activities. Each module has a full day of contact, with morning and afternoon sessions, and five teaching days.


Study Time

  • Full-time: 40 teaching days, with a minimum of 28 hours a week studying.
  • Part-time: 30 teaching days in the first year, and 10 teaching days in the second year, with a minimum of 14 hours a week studying.
