Program Overview

The Play, Movement, Nature and Outdoor Education Nordic Childhoods course is a bachelor's course offered at OsloMet. This course focuses on play, movement, and outdoor education in natural environments, highlighting the Nordic tradition for outdoor education.

Admission Requirements

• This course is designed for students who have completed at least two years of their undergraduate degree at their home institution, particularly those in Early Childhood at Social Education and Teachers Education.
• Interested students from other related academic areas are also welcome to apply.
• Participants must be prepared to engage in various outdoor activities.

Application Process

• International exchange students select courses when applying for exchange.
• The application deadline for the autumn semester is 15 April.
• The application deadline for the spring semester is 1 October.

Course Content

The course treats topics both theoretically and practically, with a central focus on self-experiences from acting, moving, and living in nature. Students will participate in several field trips and hiking tours. The course content is based on the disciplines of Natural Science and Physical Education, emphasizing play, learning by doing, experience, and experiential knowledge. The course aims to provide students with:

• Insight into childhood from a Nordic perspective and the Nordic welfare model.
• Experiences and competency in learning through play, movement, nature, and outdoor education.
• Experiences and competency in organizing didactic courses and activities for children.
• Knowledge about and experiences in the intercultural and dialogic classroom.

Costs
