Introduction to the Teacher Education Programme

The teacher education programme for secondary school teachers (of general education) consists of a bachelor's programme (8 semesters/240 ECTS credits) and a master's programme (4 semesters/120 ECTS credits). Students select two teaching subjects according to their interests and acquire subject-related academic and didactic knowledge. In addition, they have to complete courses on General Principles of Educational Science and Studies on Teaching.

Bachelor Programme

The bachelor programme is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in their chosen teaching subjects. The programme includes:

  • Introductory and Orientation Period (5 ECTS)
  • Language Acquisition (38 ECTS)
  • Compulsory Modules (37 ECTS)
• Electives (0-10 ECTS)
• Subject Related Training Placement at School (7 ECTS)
• Bachelor Module (10 ECTS)

Master Programme

The master programme is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge and skills in their chosen teaching subjects. The programme includes:

• Group of Compulsory Modules (16 ECTS)
• Compulsory Modules (10 ECTS)

Admission and Requirements

• The instruction language of this programme is German.
• To start the degree programme, students need to hold a certificate of German proficiency on C1 level.
