Program Overview

The University of Geneva offers a Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Urbanism, with a focus on themes and scales of urbanism. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary urbanism, including the latest concepts, methods, and tools.


Program Details

Duration and Format

The program lasts from February 2026 to June 2026 and is taught in person. It consists of 10 credits ECTS and takes place over 10 Fridays.


Language and Location

The program is taught in French and takes place in Geneva, Switzerland.


Tuition Fee

The tuition fee for the program is CHF 4,000.


Admission Criteria

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:


  • Hold a master's or university degree, or a equivalent title
  • Have at least 2 years of professional experience in a relevant field Alternatively, applicants with a Master's degree from a University of Applied Sciences (HES) in the field of urbanism and territorial development, and at least 4 years of professional experience in a relevant field, are also eligible.

Program Objectives

The program aims to:


  • Familiarize students with contemporary categories of urban action
  • Enable students to master the operationalization of these categories through case studies
  • Develop students' critical thinking skills in evaluating urban projects
  • Help students understand how scales redefine urban problems

Target Audience

The program is designed for professionals and individuals interested in acquiring conceptual and methodological tools in urbanism.


Program Structure

The program consists of seven thematic entries, which will be explored through case studies, project analyses, and practical work.
