Emergency Management Certificate

Program Overview

The Emergency Management Post-Baccalaureate Certificate helps current and aspiring emergency managers develop graduate-level analytical, planning, and leadership skills in the increasingly important field of all-hazards emergency management. The required classes also provide the educational material needed to qualify students for the certification exam of the International Association of Emergency Managers. This certificate program can be taken as a stand-alone course program or as part of the students M.S. degree in Emergency Health Services.

Tuition, Scholarships & Financial Aid

UMBC participates in all federal and state student financial aid programs and offers scholarships and assistantships through the Graduate School, Graduate Departments, and the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.


Program Requirements

  1. Review Emergency Management Certificate Requirements
    • GRE General Test may be required if undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 at discretion of Emergency Health Services Admissions Committee
    • EHSO: Courses are offered on-line via distance education (EHSO)
    • EHS: Courses are offered in-person/hybrid format (EHS)
  2. Start Your Graduate Admissions Application
    • Application decisions can take 6-8 weeks after the programs deadline
