Pre-Pharmacy Program Overview

The Pre-Pharmacy program is designed for students who intend to pursue a career in pharmacy. This pre-professional program is a statement of intent on the student's part, not an academic major. Pre-Pharmacy students can either begin their preparation courses for pharmacy school at UMBC and then complete their bachelor's studies at another institution or earn a separate bachelor's degree at UMBC and then attend pharmacy school at another institution.

Why Study Pre-Pharmacy?

The Pre-Pharmacy program allows students to get on track to become a pharmacist, an important member of the healthcare field who focuses on educating patients on and managing medication. Pharmacists work with patients and healthcare professionals in an informational and educational capacity for medicine, disease management, and public health related to medication distribution and use.
