German Intensive Course (DaF) before the Summer Semester

The German Intensive Course (DaF) before the summer semester takes place from March 2nd to March 27th, 2026. This course is offered in person only.

Intensive Course Details

• Registration: Opens on January 5th.
• Course Fee: 500 EUR
• Credit Hours: 100 CH (1 CH = 45 minutes)
• ECTS Points: 7 credit points (ECTS) on regular class attendance (80%)
• Certificates: Certificate with local grade, ECTS grade, total number of credit hours (CH), ECTS credit points, Language level
• Course Structure:
  • Participant profile: Minimum age 18 years, good English skills
  • Participants per course: 10-15
  • German lessons: 5 CH per day (1 CH = 45 minutes), total: 100 CH
  • Location: HU Language Centre, Dorotheenstraþe 65, 10117 Berlin

Detailed Course Information

• Beginning of the Course: Starts with a placement test on Friday, February 28th, 2024.
• First Day of German Classes: Monday, March 3rd, 2024, at the Language Centre of the Humboldt-Universit‰t zu Berlin.
• Course Times: Monday to Friday, 09:00 am to 13:30 pm.
• Placement Test: Mandatory for all participants on the first day of the course.

• Placement Test Online: Available in advance.
• Placement Test on the First Day: Determines the language level of the German course.
• Language Levels: Based on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Fees and Expenses

• Course Prices: 500 EUR for the German intensive course before the summer semester.
• Course Fee Includes: Registration fee, placement test, German lessons, teaching materials/books, Certificate with ECTS points and grade, two cultural events.
• Not Included: Transfer fees, shipping fees for visa invitation letter, public transportation tickets.
• Visa Fee: A visa invitation letter sent by email or fax is free of charge.
• Cancellation Fees: 50 EUR if canceled 14 days before the course begins; no reimbursement if canceled within 14 days or after the course starts.
• Bank Transfer Fees: Paid by the applicant.
• Insurance Obligation: Participants must have health insurance valid for Germany (preferably for Europe) and are recommended to have accident and liability insurance.
