Global Health Program

The University of Vermont's online Micro-Certificate of Graduate Study in Global Health provides students with the opportunity to explore the global nature of health and disease, including the environment, infectious disease, and climate change.


Program Overview

This online program is designed for graduate students, health practitioners, public health professionals, researchers, and environmental professionals. It can be completed as a stand-alone program or as part of a Master's, MD, or PhD program.


Curriculum

The Micro-Certificate of Graduate Study in Global Health is a 9-credit, 3-course program consisting of 2 required courses and 1 elective course from a relevant elective course list.


  • Required courses:
    • PH6110 Global Public Health
    • PH6160 Social Determinants of Health
  • Students choose one course from topical electives
  • Courses are taught by faculty experts from UVM's College of Medicine, the Vermont Department of Health, and experts trained at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • Individualized academic advising is available
  • Courses are offered during Spring, Fall, Summer terms to ensure that students can fit the program into their work or academic schedule
