Master of Counseling in School Counseling

The Oregon State University Counseling Academic Unit and OSU Ecampus provide a 90-credit Master of Counseling (M.Coun.) program with an option in school counseling. This unique and well-established program is a hybrid, part-time format to be more accessible to students: 50 percent online and 50 percent via classroom meetings held two weekends each term in Corvallis, Oregon.

Program Overview

The program is designed for Oregon and Washington residents. Several online practicum and internship course requirements during year 2 and 3 are synchronous, which require "real time" online attendance during specific dates/times.

Program Goals

The M.Coun. program is focused on preparing students to utilize skills in individual and group counseling, consultation and system change, leadership, advocacy, and action research to:

• Deliver comprehensive school counseling program services to all students
• Increase college-going rates among under-represented populations

Accreditation

The M.Coun. program is taught by renowned counseling faculty within OSU's College of Education. The program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), as well as Oregon's Teacher Standards and Practices Commission (TSPC).
