Introduction to the VETS-UP Program

The VETS-UP program, offered by Oregon State University in partnership with Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), is designed to provide veterans with the skills needed to succeed in the semiconductor industry. This program is an exciting opportunity for individuals to gain practical experience and transition into a career in this high-demand field.


Program Overview

The VETS-UP program is an 8-week paid training program that takes place in Beaverton, Oregon. Participants will receive hands-on experience working in a real-world wafer fab/clean room, gaining skills in areas such as:


  • Fundamentals of semiconductor manufacturing
  • Wafer fabrication processes
  • Transistor operation and fabrication
  • Electrical characterization
  • Vacuum and safety fundamentals
  • Verbal and written technical communications
  • Job interview preparation

Key Dates

The program has the following key dates:


  • Training program session dates: January 5 February 27, 2026
  • Application deadline: October 30, 2025
  • Notification deadline: November 13, 2025

Qualifications

To be eligible for the program, applicants must:


  • Be current students or graduates of any Oregon university or community college
  • Be Oregon residents
  • Have a preference for individuals studying or working in STEM-related fields
  • Be especially relevant for veteran students pursuing careers in science, technology, engineering, math, or related disciplines

Support Services

The program offers wraparound services for career and education support, as well as coordination of veterans' benefits. Additionally, participants will have access to:


  • Peer tutors
  • The larger OSU veterans community through online portals
  • Support transitioning to post-secondary education from the ADI Training Program
  • Mental health sessions and support

Stipend and Housing

Each participant will receive a stipend of $6,400 for their participation in the full 8-week training program. Housing is also provided for the duration of the program.


Career Advancement

The training program is designed to equip participants with the skills to advance their careers in the semiconductor industry or launch their careers in various engineering or technician roles. Participants will also have the opportunity to continue their education in the semiconductor field through degree completion or stackable courses in OSU engineering programs.


Research and Partnerships

Oregon State University is involved in research to advance the semiconductor industry, with the 7th largest engineering college in the nation. The university partners with Analog Devices, a multinational semiconductor company specializing in data conversion, signal processing, and power management technology.
