Master of Science in Nutrition - Professional Dietetics

The Master of Science in Nutrition - Professional Dietetics program at Oregon State University focuses on hands-on learning experiences paired with research training to develop practitioners who stand out as leaders in healthcare and the community.

Curriculum

The online coursework integrates multiple disciplines relevant to nutrition, including biochemical, physiological, and clinical nutrition, as well as counseling and program management skills. As students progress through the MS-PD program, they gather evidence to solve problems and advance practice, conduct original research, and demonstrate leadership skills.

Degree Requirements

A minimum of 49-50 quarter credits are required to graduate with a master's degree in nutrition. The curriculum is structured to progress with a peer cohort for the first year.

Additional Program Features

Site-based Internship Rotations

The program includes a dietetic internship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. In the second year of study, students reside in Oregon to complete site-based dietetic internship rotations.

Capstone Project

Students work with an academic graduate advising committee to develop a research question in the first year. As they progress into internship rotations, they gather evidence and data to support a capstone project designed to foster the development of research in identifying best practices and making practice-based decisions.
