Bachelor of Information Technology Bachelor of International Studies

The Bachelor of Information Technology Bachelor of International Studies is a combined program that integrates IT education with international studies and study abroad experiences. This course is designed for aspiring IT professionals seeking to enhance their career with international experience and language skills.


Course Description

This course provides a sound education in all aspects of computing and information technology for a career in the profession. The International Studies component offers an in-depth understanding of diverse cultures through academic learning at UTS and the host institution during study abroad.


Course Structure

The course adopts a practice-based approach to IT education, and the course content is designed with a mix of theory and practice. As well as developing strong technical skills in IT, students improve their skills in business analysis, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must have completed an Australian Year 12 qualification, Australian Qualifications Framework Diploma, or equivalent Australian or overseas qualification at the required level. English language requirements include IELTS Academic: overall 6.5, writing 6.0, TOEFL iBT: overall 79, writing 21, UTS College AE5: Pass, Pearson PTE: overall 58, writing 50, Cambridge C1A/C2P: overall 176, writing 169.


Course Fees

The indicative total tuition fee for government-supported domestic students is $91,455.00. Additional costs include the Student Services and Amenities Fee (SSAF), textbooks, materials, and other course-related costs.


Location

Classes are held at the City Campus or specialist off-campus locations. Some courses are delivered via online (distance) learning.


Duration and Intake

This course is offered on a five-year, full-time basis. Students may undertake an additional year with the Diploma in Information Technology Professional Practice (C20056). Intakes are available in Autumn and Spring sessions.


Lowest Selection Rank

The lowest selection rank to which an offer was made for a recent school leaver in the Autumn 2025 intake is 82.


Professional Recognition

Graduates are eligible to apply for professional-level membership with the Australian Computer Society.


Inherent Requirements

Inherent requirements are academic and non-academic requirements that are essential for successfully completing a course at UTS.


Assumed Knowledge

Assumed knowledge includes HSC Mathematics Advanced and any two units of English. Mathematics Extension 1 and English Advanced are recommended. There are no prior language requirements for the international studies program.


Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have completed equivalent subjects at a recognised tertiary education institution may be eligible for recognition of prior learning (RPL) if the subjects completed are deemed by the Faculty to be equivalent to subjects in the course.
