Introduction to the Scholarship
The Youth of Excellence Scheme of China Program Chinese Government Scholarship aims to cultivate global governance professionals with international vision, excellent comprehensive quality, outstanding leadership, and cross-cultural background. As one of the enrollment units of the scheme, Sun Yat-sen University is enrolling international students for its Master of Public Administration program.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be non-Chinese citizens with valid foreign passports.
- Be less than 45 years old and in good health, meeting the physical standards required for applying for a student visa or residence permit.
- Hold a bachelor's degree or above for master's programs, with a three-year or above working proof.
- Be friendly to China, hardworking, and diligent in their studies, with excellent academic performance and no records of violations of school rules or criminal records.
- Belong to one of the following four types of personnel:
- Public official employees working at local governmental sections with a medium rank or above.
- High-level management personnel working at institutions or companies.
- Management personnel working at higher education units or research institutions.
- Personnel with working or internship experiences at international organizations.
- Have English language proficiency, with applicants from non-English speaking countries required to submit a valid certificate of English proficiency.
Majors for International Students and Enrollment Schools/Departments
The major available for international students under this scholarship is the Master of Public Administration. Applications for other majors will be regarded as invalid.
Years of Study and Instruction Language
The Master of Public Administration program is one year (12 months) long, and the instruction language is English.
Scholarship
The scholarship offered is a full-scholarship. Any changes in the funding standard will be announced by the China Scholarship Council.
Application Procedure
To apply, follow these steps:
- Apply on the China Scholarship Council website, selecting the "Type A" program with code No. 1563.
- Apply on the Sun Yat-sen University website before March 15, 2024. Application documents include:
- A valid ordinary passport and a personal profile photo.
- A three-year or above working proof with specification of position and related work.
- Diploma, certificates, and verification reports of bachelor's degree.
- Transcripts issued and stamped by the Department of Academic Affairs.
- English language proficiency certificate (for non-English speaking countries).
- Two letters of recommendation from experts or scholars in the field.
- A plan of study and research in China (about 1,500 words).
- Physical examination and blood test results.
- Certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by local authorities.
- Application form of China Scholarship Council.
- Supporting documents (award certificates or proof of experience).
- Commitment letter.
- Personal Information Form.
Application Deadline
The application deadline is March 15, 2024.
Selection Procedures
The selection process includes:
- Qualification Review: Review of the applicant's foreign status, highest academic qualification, academic performance, language proficiency, recommendations, and study plan.
- Assessment: Organized by admission teams, which may include an interview and/or a written test.
- Conditional Admission: Based on qualifications and interview assessment results.
- Admission Policy: The final admission decision is made by experts from the Chinese Scholarship Committee.
Others
- Admitted students must complete registration procedures according to the registration date and location required in the Admission Letter.
- Applicants are responsible for the materials submitted, and those who have fabricated materials will have their admission qualifications and student status canceled.
- A physical examination and review of admission eligibility will be conducted for all admitted applicants after enrollment.
- Scholarship recipients are required to participate in an annual review, and failure to pass the review may result in the termination or cancellation of the scholarship.
