RESeaux course: Internet, Cybersecurity, Cloud and Automation (RES)
نظرة عامة على البرنامج
Introduction to the Parcours RESeaux Program
The Parcours RESeaux program offers high-level training that covers all the themes necessary for mastering the techniques and technologies used in current networks and their evolution. It addresses current issues such as network security, mobility, connected objects, and data science for networks.
Objectives
The objective of the Parcours RESeaux program is to train specialists in communication networks who are capable of not only mastering today's communication systems but also designing and developing tomorrow's systems. It aims to provide students with theoretical, technical, and practical knowledge of the world of networks and to open up perspectives on technological developments.
Program Structure
The program consists of two years: the first year (M1) and the second year (M2).
First Year (M1)
The first year is characterized by a complement to the fundamentals of the discipline transversal to the Master's in Computer Science and by an early specialization. It is a common core that offers significant mutualization of teachings with other courses in the Master's in Computer Science.
The year is composed of two semesters (S1 and S2), each validated independently. During each semester, students must follow a number of Units of Education (UE) corresponding to 30 ECTS.
First Semester (M1-S1)
In the first semester, students follow 6 UE, including 2 compulsory UE proposed by the Parcours RESeaux, 2 specific UE, and 2 UE to be chosen from those proposed by other courses in the Master's in Computer Science.
The 2 compulsory UE are:
- ARES (Network Architecture, 6 ECTS)
- RTEL (Telecommunication Networks, 6 ECTS)
The 2 specific UE are:
- PRES1 (Network Project 1, 3 ECTS)
- PROGRES (Network Programming, 3 ECTS)
The 2 optional UE recommended are to be chosen (subject to availability) from:
- SIGNAL (Signal Processing - UE of the SESI course realized in collaboration with the RES course, 6 ECTS)
- ARCHI (Processor Architecture and Optimizations - UE of the SESI course, 6 ECTS)
- MOGPL (Modeling, Optimization, Graphs, and Linear Programming - UE of the ANDROIDE course, 6 ECTS)
- NOYAU (Advanced Kernel Architecture - UE of the SAR course, 6 ECTS)
- PSCR (Concurrent and Distributed System Programming - UE of the SAR course, 6 ECTS)
- Free UE: any UE from the global catalog of UE of the Master's in Computer Science, subject to validation by the course manager and compatibility of schedules.
Second Semester (M1-S2)
In the second semester, students also follow 6 UE, with at least 4 belonging to the Parcours RESeaux.
Second Year (M2)
The second year is a real year of specialization, with the objective of giving students pointed skills in the field of networks and telecommunications.
The year is composed of two semesters (S3 and S4), each validated independently.
Third Semester (M2-S3)
In the third semester, students follow 5 UE, each of 6 ECTS:
- ANET (Autonomic Networks)
- CELL (Cellular Networks)
- DAAR (Development of Application Network Algorithms)
- GAN (Graphs and Networks)
- IoB (Internet of Blockchain)
- ITQOS (Traffic Engineering and Quality of Service)
- MEPS (Modeling and Evaluation of System Performance)
- NEVA (Network with Virtualization and Automation)
- SECRES (Network Security)
All UE are likely to be taught in English.
The choice of UE is limited according to the availability of places.
Fourth Semester (M2-S4)
In the fourth semester, the student carries out an internship lasting between 5 and 6 months. The internship UE is worth 27 ECTS, and the remaining 3 ECTS integrate the results of the IP (Professional Integration) UE.
Public Targeted and Prerequisites
The Parcours RESeaux program is primarily aimed at holders of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent diploma). However, admissions will be possible in M1 and M2 for candidates in Continuing Education, potentially applying for the Validation of Acquired Experience (VAE), and in the second year of the Master's for students who have completed their first year of Master's in another French university, or for students holding an engineering diploma and wishing to specialize.
The prerequisites for entering the Master's program relate to knowledge and concepts acquired at the level of the Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. They are centered on basic network concepts, but good knowledge in operating systems and programming techniques (application, local, and distributed) is also necessary. Additionally, basic notions of computer hardware architecture are recommended.
Career Opportunities
The career opportunities concern both the industrial world and the academic world.
The sectors of activity accessible to graduates are naturally and primarily those of telecommunications, computer activities, and services provided to companies; given the explosion of computer and telecommunications networks, this must be added to all sectors using these networks (transport, energy, heavy industry, services, administration, etc.).
The types of jobs accessible are related to research and development in the field of networks and telecommunications: R&D engineer, network architect, telecom engineer, security expert, network and telecommunications consultant, system and network administrator, project manager, operations manager, integrator, etc.
The career opportunities in the academic world consist of pursuing studies in a doctoral program.
Applications
The application procedure for the Parcours RESeaux program of the Master's in Computer Science depends on your situation:
- You are French, European, or a foreigner outside the EU but residing in France for at least 1 year: you can apply via the national Master's portal.
- You are a foreigner outside Europe and do not reside in Europe: your country of residence is subject to the Campus France procedure; you must imperatively go through it. Your application will be rejected if you go through eCandidat. Applications are open from October to December.
For more information on orienting yourself according to your situation as a foreign student, see the website of Sorbonne Université.
