Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Technologies

The Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Technologies program was established in the academic year 1438 AH, to be the first doctoral program specialized in educational technologies at the level of the Kingdom. The program is offered in the form of courses in addition to a scientific thesis submitted to obtain a doctoral degree.


Overview

The mission of the program is to "provide academically accredited technical education and prepare distinguished scientific and research competencies in the fields of educational technologies, to meet the requirements of development and the needs of educational and training institutions, according to the best scientific standards, using the latest scientific and technical methods available." This qualifies students to work in many institutions, such as consultants in providing consultations related to educational technologies to the relevant authorities, or designers and developers in e-learning institutions, whether universities or Saudi centers.


Eligible Applicants

  • Students with a Master's Degree in Educational Technologies are eligible to apply.
  • Admission from outside the specialty is not possible.

Method of Study

The program is offered in a full-time format, with a duration of three years (six semesters).


Courses and Thesis

The program consists of 57 credit hours, including compulsory and optional courses, as well as a thesis.

The degree awarded is a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Technologies.

  5. Studying educational issues and phenomena in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and developing solutions for them.
  6. Preparing competencies capable of interacting with the requirements of educational environments, ensuring the sustainability of its outputs, to achieve the service of the Saudi society in the present and future.
  7. Providing the opportunity for students with a master's degree to complete their studies and obtain a doctoral degree in educational technologies.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the foundations and realities of issues and theories related to the field of education in general and the field of educational technologies in particular.
  • Possessing knowledge related to the types of programs and computer interfaces and their applications in the educational process.
  • Possessing a broad understanding of scientific research and its procedures in the field of e-learning techniques and technological innovations.
  • Identifying the foundations and principles associated with developing a new project or product in the field of educational technologies that can be applied in the educational field.
  • Utilizing social media and technological innovations to communicate effectively with others to meet educational and educational needs.
  • Using computer applications in the development of different educational environments to solve educational issues according to the standards of the educational technological product.
  • Criticizing and evaluating sources and information related to the field of educational technologies.
