Program Goals

Within a few years, graduates will:

  • Pursue successful professional careers in electrical engineering or related fields while remaining technically current through graduate education and professional engagement.
  • Excel as leaders, team members, communicators, and innovators in collaborative multicultural environments.
  • Benefit society by practicing their profession responsibly and ethically, and sharing their knowledge through training and mentorship opportunities.

Program Details

The Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (B.S.E.E.) degree is a four-year program consisting of 137 hours of required credit.

  • Core subjects are split into Mathematics/Natural Sciences, Arts and Sciences, and Electrical Engineering.
  • There are also 12-15 credit hours of computer engineering electives, where students can choose from courses including:
    • Optical Fiber Communications
    • Energy Engineering
    • Electric Drives
    • Digital Integrated Circuit Design
    • Wireless Communications and Antenna Theory

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing their studies, graduates will be able to:

  • Identify, formulate, and solve complex electrical engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
  • Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
  • Communicate effectively with a range of audiences, through oral, written, graphic, and electronic channels.
  • Make informed engineering decisions, guided by ethical and professional responsibility, and considering the global impact of engineering solutions on the economy, environment, and society.
  • Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
  • Develop and conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
  • Acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies such as self-regulated learning, experimentation, and cooperative learning.
