The Policing and Security Leadership program is offered by the Faculty of Resilience at Rabdan Academy.

Program Overview

The program prepares graduates for positions of senior responsibility as innovative, capable, and resilient leaders operating to maintain public and national safety within the fields of policing and security. Graduates will be able to lead within and across agencies while continuously developing and improving themselves, their teams, and their organizations.

Mission

The mission of the program is to provide a specialized, theoretical foundation and applied skills for a graduate to function successfully as a senior leader within the domains of policing and security.

The program provides a specialized, theoretical foundation and applied skills for a graduate to function successfully as a senior leader within the domains of policing and security. Specifically, graduates will possess the skills, theoretical knowledge, and practical ability to lead high-performing and ethical policing and security operations, including organized crime, operational command, community safety, and strategic financial management.

Educational Objectives

The educational objectives of the program are:

• Have relevant technological skills, knowledge, and abilities for employment as a manager in the SSDEC sector.
• Work, lead, and communicate effectively in a team to achieve common goals.
• Apply standard, ethical practices, procedures, and technologies to collect information, identify threats, assess risk, and develop effective programs.
• Implement organizational, interagency solutions to strengthen the SSDEC community and build national resilience capacities.
• Expand knowledge and capabilities through continuing education, certification, or other lifelong learning opportunities.
• Fulfill civic duties and responsibilities through local, national, or global service.

Learning Outcomes

By successfully completing the MSc in Policing and Security Leadership, a graduate will have the following competencies:

• Critically analyze contemporary issues and trends in policing and security from theoretical, historical, and professional practice perspectives.
• Apply executive leadership principles to manage complex risks in domestic, transnational, and multiagency policing and security organizations.
• Assess strategic planning requirements to lead responsible and ethical policing and security operations in local and international contexts.
• Critically evaluate professional practice in applying leadership skills to manage competing risks and priorities in administrative, investigative, and operational policing contexts.
• Develop and deliver analytical products, professional written reports, and verbal and/or multimedia presentations.
