Program Overview

The 3D Computer Graphics and Animation program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive and practical understanding of the subject area. The program aims to equip students with the necessary skills and knowledge to create 3D models and animations.

Program Details

  • The program consists of a 2 SWS lecture and a 2 SWS exercise.
  • The lecture is held every Tuesday from 14:30 to 16:00 in room A 027, Theresienstrafle.
  • The program is targeted at students of Media Informatics and Computer Science in their main studies.
  • The prerequisite for the program is a Vordiplom in Media Informatics or Computer Science.

Program Content

The program covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to 3D computer graphics and animation
  • Basics of raster graphics and 2D modeling
  • 3D modeling and animation techniques
  • Working with 3D Studio MAX
  • Principles of lighting, shading, and texture mapping
  • Animation techniques and global illumination methods

Exercise and Block Practice

  • Instead of a weekly exercise, a block practice will be offered during the lecture-free period after the summer semester.
  • The block practice will last approximately 2 weeks and will start on July 30.
  • To obtain the exercise certificate, participants will have to work on an assignment after the block practice, which will be evaluated.

Program Materials

  • The lecture materials, including scripts and slides, are available online.
  • The access to the materials is password-protected.
  • The following materials are available:
    • Script for the exercises
    • Guidelines for group work
    • Assignment for the exercise certificate
    • Example solution for the assignment
