Introduction to the Jilin University "Dingxin Scholar" Program
The Jilin University "Dingxin Scholar" Program is designed to recruit outstanding young scholars from around the world. The program aims to nurture their development potential, self-motivation, and innovation by supporting their academic exploration in innovative research.
Recruitment Plan for 2020
In 2020, a maximum of 150 scholars are planned to be recruited.
Remuneration and Benefits
The salary for Dingxin Scholars shall be no less than 300,000 RMB/year (pre-tax), paid on a monthly basis for two years. Additional benefits include:

- Subsidies for heating during winter
- Medical plan privileges
- Preferential policy for dependent children to attend kindergarten, primary, and secondary schools attached to JLU
- Opportunities to apply for funds and allowances for attending top-level international conferences
Eligibility
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Hold a doctoral degree from:
- The world's top 300 universities or the top 1 disciplines in ESI outside China's mainland
- Universities or disciplines supported by the Double World-class Initiative in China
- Alternatively, have obtained a doctoral degree or been engaged in post-doctoral research in the world's top scientific research teams led by Nobel Prize laureates, Turing Award winners, Fields Medal winners, or academicians
- Be under 35 years old
- Generally, have obtained a doctoral degree within the last three years, with fresh PhD graduates of 2020 given priority
- Undertake to work full-time as postdoctoral fellows at JLU after commencing the program
Application
Applicants must prepare and submit the following documents in one PDF file:
- "Dingxin Scholar Program Application Form"
- Certificates: Scanned copies of doctoral degree certificates and diplomas. Fresh PhD graduates who have not yet obtained these certificates must provide scanned copies of their student ID and supporting documents issued by their university to prove their qualification for the doctoral degree.
- Academic achievements:
- Full-text scanned copy of doctoral degree dissertation
- Up to 3 documents representing the applicant's highest level in academic research achievements (published papers, monographs, patents, or awards)
- Two letters of recommendation signed and provided by the applicant's PhD supervisor and peer experts
Selection Timeline
The selection process includes two rounds:
- First round:
- April 15th - April 30th, 2020: Submission of application
- May 1st - May 15th, 2020: Screening by JLU Schools or Colleges
- May 16th - Mid-June, 2020: Selection and final results announcement by JLU
- Second round:
- September - October, 2020: Submission of application
- By Mid-November 2020: Screening by JLU Schools or Colleges
- Mid-November - Mid-December 2020: Selection and final results announcement by JLU
Candidates will be assessed based on their academic achievements, research capabilities, development potential, the innovativeness of their research proposals, and the potential contribution to the development of the discipline.
