Introduction to the Master of Public Health Program

The Master of Public Health (MPH) program at Georgia State University is designed to prepare students for a career in public health, with a focus on protecting the health of communities and understanding the impact of environmental factors on human health.


Program Overview

The MPH program is a 42-credit hour program that can be completed in approximately two years. The program is available in-person or online, with some classes offered in a hybrid format. Students can choose from various concentrations, including Environmental Health.


Environmental Health Concentration

The Environmental Health concentration prepares students to identify and address environmental health hazards, design intervention strategies, and create healthier environments. This concentration encompasses areas such as exposure assessment, toxicology, and risk assessment, with specialized tracks in food safety, occupational health, infectious diseases, and urban health.


Program Details

  • Tuition: $450 per credit hour (same for all fully online students, regardless of geographic location)
  • Online learning fee: $660 per semester (if enrolled in 6 or more credit hours)
  • Application deadlines:
    • Fall: February 15 (priority deadline for scholarship consideration and international applicants), June 15 (regular deadline)
    • Spring: October 1 (priority deadline), November 1 (regular deadline)
  • Admissions requirements:
    • SOPHAS application and fee
    • Resume or curriculum vitae
    • Official transcripts from each college and/or university attended
    • Three professional references
    • Statement of purpose and objectives
    • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Testing System (IELTS) for international applicants
  • GRE requirement: Not required for admission to the MPH program
