Electronic and Electrical Engineering BEng Hons

The Electronic and Electrical Engineering BEng Hons program at Lancaster University is a three-year full-time course that provides students with a broad understanding of electronic and electrical engineering principles. The program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to design, develop, and test electronic and electrical systems.


Overview

The program starts with a general engineering first year, where students share their experience with all School of Engineering students, regardless of their specialization. This year is dedicated to providing a broad understanding of general engineering and its applications. In the second year, students specialize in electronic and electrical engineering, developing their core skills as engineers and building their familiarity and practical experience in power engineering, analogue circuitry, and digital systems.

Entry Requirements

The typical entry requirements for the program are:


  • A levels: ABB, including Mathematics and a physical science subject
  • Access to HE Diploma: Considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales: Accepted in place of one A level
  • BTEC Extended Diploma: DDM in an Engineering-related subject
  • International Baccalaureate: 32 points overall, including 16 points from the best 3 HL subjects
  • Scottish Highers and Advanced Highers: Accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • T levels: Accepted alongside A level Mathematics grade B
  • GCSE requirements: Mathematics grade 6/B, English Language grade 4/C
  • English language requirements: IELTS score of 6.5 overall, with at least 5.5 in each component

Fees and Funding

The annual tuition fee for the program is:


  • Home: Ł9,790
  • International: Ł30,770 There are also additional costs for the program, including:
  • Clothing for laboratory use: approximately Ł30
  • College membership fee: Ł40 for undergraduates and research students
  • Computer equipment and internet access: students are required to have access to a computer and reliable internet access

Scholarships and Bursaries

The university offers a range of scholarships and bursaries, including:


  • Lancaster Bursary: Ł1,000 in each year of study
  • Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship Home: Ł3,000 in the first year of study
  • International Undergraduate Excellence Scholarship: Ł3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
  • Undergraduate International Regional Scholarship: Ł3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
  • International Study Centre Progression Scholarship: Ł3,000, as a tuition fee reduction, per year of study
