Control Science and Engineering (MEng/Ph.D)
Program Overview
The Control Science and Engineering program is a field of study that focuses on intelligent industrial production control, digital buildings and communities, intelligent robot technology, intelligent transportation, intelligent logistics, smart grid, and other related areas. It encompasses various disciplines, including control theory and control engineering, detection technology and automation devices, systems engineering, pattern recognition and intelligent systems, navigation, guidance and control, bioinformatics, modeling and simulation theory and technology.
Curriculum
The program's curriculum includes the following courses:
- Robotics and Automation (2 credits, 32 hours)
- Computer Control and Application (2 credits, 32 hours)
- Feedback Control System Design (1 credit, 16 hours)
- Instrumentation and Sensors (3 credits, 48 hours)
- Digital Signal Processing (3 credits, 48 hours)
- Machine Vision and Intelligent Systems (2 credits, 32 hours)
- Practice in Digital System (Advanced Signal Processing) (1 credit, 16 hours)
- Embedded System Design (2 credits, 32 hours)
- Practice in Embedded Programming (1 credit, 16 hours)
- Signal and Systems (3 credits, 48 hours)
Duration
- MEng: 3 years
- Ph.D: 4 years
Start Date
The program starts in September 2026.
Student Outcomes
Graduates of the program will acquire expertise in the integration of intelligent hardware and software systems, developing skills in robotics, real-time control, embedded computing, and signal processing. They will be able to design, implement, and deploy automated solutions for industrial challenges, demonstrating collaborative problem-solving abilities across multidisciplinary domains. The program has a nearly 100% employment rate, with graduates primarily working in the software and information technology services industry, computer and communication equipment manufacturing, education sector, and related fields.
Entry Requirements
- Master's programs: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and under 35 years old.
- Ph.D programs: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens and under 40 years old.
Fees and Funding
- Tuition fee:
- Master's program: 32,000 CNY/year
- Ph.D program: 40,000 CNY/year
- Scholarships:
- Chinese Government Scholarship (application deadline: October 1 - February of the following year)
- Guangdong Provincial Government Scholarship (application deadline: June 30)
- SCUT Outstanding International Student Scholarship (application deadline: June 30)
- Application fee: 450 RMB
