Introduction to the Bain Fellowship Program

The James Harbert Bain Family Scholarship was established in 1982 to provide tuition, stipend, and books for medical students interested in Pathology.

Program Details

• The 2026 Bain Fellowship begins June 1 through July 24, 2026
• The program is an eight-week immersive Pathology experience in subspecialties
• Eligible students are those between their 1st and 2nd year of medical school; enrolled MSTP students are ineligible for this summer program
• The program is tailored to the student's interests
• Students will be exposed to potential mentors and Pathology trainees
• Participation in multidisciplinary conferences is included
• Opportunity to engage in research activities
• A stipend of $4000 is provided

• The application deadline for the program is February 6, 2026

Bain Family Scholarship

The Bain Family scholarship was established to provide financial assistance for tuition and books to aid a medical student in completing their medical degree and interested in pursuing a career in the field of Pathology. The selected student will have stellar academic credentials, as well as a demonstrated interest in the field of Pathology.

Requirements for the Bain Family Scholarship

• Applicants are required to submit a CV
• A personal statement describing interest in pathology and intent to apply for residency is also required
