Access to the HEP Vaud and Teaching in Secondary Schools
Secondary 1
To teach in secondary 1, students must acquire a Master's degree in teaching for secondary level 1 (120 credits, 2 years) from the HEP-VD. The general requirements include:
- Holding at least a Bachelor's degree from a Swiss university
- Acquiring 110 credits for a single teaching discipline, or 60 credits for a first teaching discipline and 40 credits for a second or 20 credits for a third teaching discipline
Secondary 2
At secondary 2 level, in the Canton of Vaud, the History of Religions and History are two distinct branches. The conditions of access to the HEP Vaud for teaching at secondary 2 level are not specified in the provided context.
Additional Training
Historians who have completed a Bachelor's degree in history without any credits in the sciences of religions can carry out a complementary 8 or 10-credit training course in religious studies. This will give them access to an all-encompassing didactic approach to religious studies and culture at the HEP-VD, in addition to the didactic approach to history.
