Program Overview
The DFASM program is a 3-year course that takes place over 6 semestres, validating 120 ECTS Europeans and corresponding to a master's level.
Presentation
The program aims to provide students with in-depth knowledge of physiopathological processes, pathology, therapeutic bases, and prevention, as well as generic skills preparing them for the 3rd cycle of medical studies. It also includes training in scientific methodology and clinical reasoning.
Prerequisites
To be eligible for the program, students must have obtained the DiplŰme de Formation Approfondie en Sciences Mťdicales (DFGSM).
Objectives
The 3-year program (DFASM1, DFASM2, DFASM3) aims to acquire in-depth knowledge related to physiopathological processes, pathology, therapeutic bases, and prevention, as well as generic skills preparing students for the 3rd cycle of medical studies.
The Reform of the Second Cycle (R2C)
The reform is structured around three pillars: knowledge, skills, and curriculum. In 2023, students in their 5th year (DFASM2) will take national dematerialized exams (EDN) consisting of knowledge assessments by QCM. Conferences to prepare for the ECNi (National Computerized Classification Exams) are offered to students throughout the year.
Evaluation
In their final year (DFASM3), students will take competency exams through ECOS (Standardized Objective Exam). To this end, faculty ECOS are organized every year within the Lyon-Est Faculty of Medicine to allow students to train for this new evaluation method, which is based on simulation to evaluate reasoning, behavior, communication, professionalism, etc.
Curriculum
- Each year, an optional teaching unit (UELC) must be validated, so 3 UELC must be validated by the end of the 6th year (DFASM3).
- Each year, the student must complete 4 internships.
- 25 guards must also be validated during these 3 years of DFASM.
4th, 5th, and 6th Year
The program includes a 3-year course with specific objectives and evaluations for each year.
