Rehabilitation Sciences (MSc)

The Master of Science graduate program is designed to provide research training to individuals in the field of rehabilitation.


Program Details

The Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences requires the completion of coursework and a research-based thesis.


  • Expected duration: 2-4 years
  • Tuition and fees: Program fees are assessed in the first two terms of study, followed by a continuing fee in the third and any subsequent terms.
  • The Master of Science in Rehabilitation Sciences program normally requires a total of 12 credit hours of course work, consisting of the completion of four 3 credit hour or half courses, in addition to the completion of a research-based thesis.
  • Courses are selected with the approval of an advisor.

  • REHB 7280: Rehabilitation Theory and Research Design (required: 3 credit hours)
  • REHB 7290: Appraisal, synthesis, and communication of research evidence in rehabilitation sciences (3 credit hours)

The College of Rehabilitation Sciences (CoRS) researchers conduct research and scholarship that enhances the health and quality of life of Canadians. Our research focuses on:

  • Primary care and primary health care
  • Interprofessional and person-centred education and practice
  • Exploring and exploiting the use of technology
  • Issues relevant to living in northern, rural or remote environments
  • Engaging with people across the continuum of health

Admission Requirements

To qualify for admission to the Master of Science Rehabilitation Sciences program, you must have:


  • A confirmed faculty member from the College of Rehabilitation Sciences who has agreed to supervise you in the MSc program.
  • A four-year bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in:
    • physical therapy
    • occupational therapy
    • respiratory therapy
    • or related discipline, such as:
      • kinesiology
      • biomedical engineering
      • exercise science
  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 (B) in the last 60 credit hours of study.

Application Process

Applications for the Master of Rehabilitation Sciences program are accepted for Fall and Winter entry. Applications must be completed online and include several parts:


  • A confirmed advisor within the College of Rehabilitation Sciences prior to application
  • Application fee (non-refundable)
  • Unofficial copies of transcripts
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Proof of English language proficiency, if required
