Program Overview

The DESU Petit appareillage en orthopķdie program is designed for students and professionals in the field of pharmacy, particularly those interested in orthopedic appliances and prosthetics.


Objectives

The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to work with patients in the implementation and dispensation of orthopedic appliances and prosthetics, in accordance with the arrĻtķ of February 1, 2011.


Target Audience

The program is intended for:


  • Students in their final year of pharmacy studies (6th year validated)
  • Pharmacists who wish to develop their skills in orthopedic appliances and prosthetics

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for the program, students must have:


  • A diploma in pharmacy
  • A doctorate in pharmacy
  • Completed their 6th year of pharmacy studies

Structure and Organization

The program consists of two teaching periods:


  1. The first period takes place in September and lasts for 4 weeks
  2. The second period takes place from February to April, with 2 days of classes per week for 8 weeks

Knowledge and Skills to be Acquired

Students will gain knowledge in:


  • Anatomical and functional pathology
  • Orthopedic appliances for the spine, trunk, abdomen, upper and lower limbs
  • Vascular containment, burn care, and external breast prosthetics They will also acquire practical skills in:
  • Measuring and fitting orthopedic appliances
  • Fabricating prosthetics
  • Ensuring compliance with regulations for pharmacy facilities

Stages and Projects

Students will complete a case study analysis, which includes:


  • Research and documentation
  • Written and oral presentations
  • Evaluation by program directors and instructors
