Business Administration - MBA
The Utah State MBA prepares students to manage business in a variety of areas, setting them apart in their current career field or once they enter the workforce. Students from all backgrounds and undergraduate degrees can earn an MBA.
About This Degree
USU's Huntsman School of Business started offering degrees in 1894 and employs faculty with real-world experience. The hands-on curriculum delivered by world-renowned faculty gives students the education they need to land the career they want. The school has long held prestigious accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.
What You Will Learn
The mission of the MBA program is to provide students with a relevant and rigorous background in business, increase student problem-solving and critical analysis skills, and develop the next generation of business leaders. Students are trained to lead, manage, and improve business performance. Students learn how to commercialize profitable ideas more efficiently, economically, and successfully. They possess the know-how to improve existing businesses and create new businesses, and are armed with cutting-edge intelligence and analytic tools to gain a deeper and clearer understanding of both domestic and global markets, customers, and competition.
Specialization
- Strategic Business Development and Venturing: This specialization focuses on strategy and venturing skills which are tremendous assets to companies that want managers capable of identifying and leading growth strategies.
- Business Analytics: The competencies learned in the Business Analytics specialization focus on business intelligence, information systems strategy, and database design and mining.
- Finance: The Finance specialization focuses on broader financial skills and competencies and positions MBA students more strongly for the market.
- Leadership: This specialization focuses on developing impactful, innovative, inclusive leaders who can negotiate strategic agreements and influence stakeholders.
- Shingo: This is a specialization where you will gain a deep understanding of the Shingo Model and the principles and behaviors necessary to make operational excellence sustainable.

Admission
Admission Requirements
To be considered for the program, the following information needs to be submitted:
- A statement of purpose: one-page essay of career goals and objectives
- Official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended (except USU transcripts)
- Three contacts for letters of recommendation
- A résumé
- A nonrefundable application fee International students have additional admissions requirements. All applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:
- Accounting
- Finance
Deadlines
- July 1: for fall admission to the Executive and Online MBA programs.
- November 15: for spring admission to the Executive and Online MBA programs.
- March 15: for summer admission to the Executive and Online MBA programs.
Program Requirements
The international Study Tour is optional for students and takes place during spring break every other year. The tour gives students the opportunity to travel to other countries to learn about business practices around the world.
Plan Options
Students receiving the MBA must complete the Plan C option, which does not involve a thesis or a defense meeting and is comprised of coursework only.
