Diploma of Creative Arts and Health (A1C)

The Diploma of Creative Arts and Health offers an interdisciplinary study experience, providing knowledge of innovative uses of creative arts in community and health-care settings. Students develop an understanding of the effects of the arts on brain and body in social and cultural contexts.


Overview

This course is available to study as both part-time or full-time, with a minimum duration of 1 year and a maximum of 3 years. It is available online, with semester 1 and semester 2 intakes.


Entry Requirements

  • Domestic applicants with recent secondary education are ranked by ATAR, with offers made based on available places.
  • Domestic applicants with higher education study must have partially completed an undergraduate course at Diploma level or higher.
  • Domestic applicants with VET/TAFE study must have completed a Certificate IV or equivalent.
  • Domestic applicants with work and life experience can complete a personal competency statement.
  • International students must meet minimum English Language Requirements and University General Entry Requirements.

Course Structure

The Diploma of Creative Arts and Health requires completion of 100 credit points, comprising:


  • 25-50 credit points of Introductory units
  • 25 credit points of Intermediate units
  • 25-50 credit points of Advanced units

  • Core units: FXA100 - The Arts and Dementia Care, FXA101 - Creativity for Life
  • Elective units: CZZ104 - Living and Working with Cultural Diversity, HGA138 - Society, Culture and Health, PSY112 - Brain and Behaviour

Intermediate Units

  • FXA202 - The Photo Essay: Storytelling with image and text
  • PSY214 - Stress, Self-Care and Mindfulness

Advanced Units

  • Core unit: FXA301 - Arts in the Community
  • Elective units: FXA300 - Music, Mind and Body, FXA302 - Perspectives of the Arts on Health and Wellbeing, FXA303 - Creative Arts, Play and Mental Wellbeing
