نظرة عامة على البرنامج
General Surgery Residency
The General Surgery Residency program is a seven-year training program approved for 80 resident positions, graduating 12 chief residents in general surgery each year.
Program Overview
The program offers a broad, well-balanced surgical experience that can be adjusted to the career goals of individual residents. The General Surgery internship currently offers 21 positions: 12 categorical and 9 preliminary. The interns will work alongside 3 Urology categorical residents, 2 Plastic Surgery integrated residents, and 1 Vascular Surgery integrated resident.
Research and Academic Opportunities
During the seven-year training program, categorical residents are expected to spend two years in the Department's various research labs, research labs outside the institution, or in academic endeavors such as postgraduate education. Applicants entering the program with a PhD can establish a mentored curriculum plan tailored to their career goals.
Career Outcomes
Most graduates continue training in fellowship programs or embark on academic careers, although some are able to excel with direct entry into clinical practice.
Program Structure
The program is designed to provide a comprehensive surgical experience, with every effort made to ensure that each resident receives an equivalent experience and fulfills the specific Board of Surgery requirements.
