UBISS 2023

11th International UBI Summer School 2023

The 11th International UBI Summer School 2023 will be held in Oulu, Finland, from June 12-17, 2023. The event is hosted by the Center for Ubiquitous Computing at the University of Oulu.

Credits and Registration Fee

• The summer school offers 5 ECTS credits (University of Oulu course code S).
• The registration fee is 300 EUR.
• Accommodation is available at 39 EUR/day (per person in a twin bedroom in a luxurious villa with sauna).

The UBISS 2023 comprises three parallel 6-day "hands-on" workshops (intensive courses worth 5 ECTS):

1. A: Creating Virtual Reality Experiences for Social Good

Application and Enrollment

• All prospective participants must submit an online application, providing motivation for their participation and a ranked list of preferred workshops.
• The application is forwarded to the instructors of the preferred workshops, who select students for their respective workshops.
• An applicant accepted to a particular workshop must confirm their seat via online registration.
• Participants are enrolled in two stages:
  1. Stage 1 – Open international call
  2. Stage 2 – Any available seats will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis to qualified applicants by May 31, 2023

UBISS Concept

The purpose of the annual international UBI Summer Schools (UBISS) is to provide researchers, students, and industry and public sector professionals with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and insight on selected topics under the tutelage of distinguished experts. UBISS typically comprises 3-6 parallel 6-day workshops where the instructor(s) first provide a theoretical framing of the topic of the workshop and then supervise students' hands-on group projects, whose outcome is presented in the result seminar on the last day.
