Diploma in Social Science (Policing) (exit only) (7167)

Overview

The Diploma in Social Science (Policing) provides the first year subjects of study for the Bachelor of Policing, equipping graduates with an introduction to policing as a distinct area of academic study. It offers both social science and criminology subjects, forming the basis for further study in the degree program.

Admission

• Completed an English subject in the NSW Higher School Certificate, or
• Competency in English at IELTS 6.0 equivalent, or
• Completed The College English test at 70% or higher, or
• Passed The College Foundation English subject at C grade level.
• Met other entry requirements such as an ATAR identified prior to the offer of a place, or
• Completed The College Foundation Studies program with a GPA of 5.5 or better.

Students must successfully pass the following University level subjects:

• LANG 0052: Academic Communication for Policing and Justice (WSTC Prep) - 10 credit points
• CULT 1019: Understanding Society (WSTC) - 10 credit points
• HUMN 1042: People, Place and Social Difference (WSTC) - 10 credit points
• BEHV 1023: The Individual in Society (WSTC) - 10 credit points
• JUST 1004: Policing Practices (WSTC) - 10 credit points
• CULT 1006: Crime, Deviance and Society (WSTC) - 10 credit points
• CULT 1025: Introduction to Criminal Justice (WSTC) - 10 credit points
• BEHV 2015: Mental Health in the Community (WSTC) - 10 credit points
• HUMN 1062: Introduction to Indigenous Australia: Peoples, Places and Philosophies (WSTC) - 10 credit points Total Credit Points: 90
