Social and Human Sciences Graduate Major
The Social and Human Sciences Graduate Major is a program offered by the Department of Social and Human Sciences at the School of Environment and Society. This program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in humanities, social sciences, and science and engineering.

The program has five key features that enable students to acquire a broad range of knowledge and skills:
- Multi-layered and Systematic Learning: Students acquire broad knowledge in humanities, social sciences, and science and engineering, as well as advanced expertise in fields such as politics, law, and public administration; education, welfare, and health; culture and art; science, technology, and society; and cognition, mathematics, and information.
- Acquiring the Bridging Ability: Students develop the ability to connect people and society with science and technology, including insight, reflection, and transfer abilities.
- Interaction and Exchange Beyond Borders and Barriers: Students develop interdependent relationship-building abilities, the ability to initiate dialogues among multiple fields and cultures, and an understanding of various values and worldviews.
- Independently Forming Advanced Evaluation Criteria and Manifesting Vision: Students develop the ability to independently form advanced evaluation criteria and manifest vision, which is linked to specialized academic research ability.
- Pushing Forward and Creatively Designing Necessary Mechanisms and Processes: Students develop problem-solving abilities, including the ability to apply expertise, wide and deep knowledge, and various advanced skills, based on a high ethical perspective and a sense of responsibility.
