Program Overview

The Summer Engineering Research Program is a cooperative program between Tokyo Science University and Hanover University. This program allows students to participate in a summer research project at Hanover University, with support from Tokyo Science University, including assistance with procedures, scholarship provision, and credit recognition.

Program Details

• Program Name: Summer Engineering Research Program
• Program Description: Students will work on a research project at Hanover University and present their results on the final day. The matching of students with supervising teachers will be conducted by Hanover University.
• Target Participants: Engineering students in their third year or above in the undergraduate program and graduate students. A TOEIC score of 750 or above is preferred, although submission of language test scores is not required.

Program Schedule

• Duration: May 17, 2026, to July 31, 2026

Application and Admission

• Application Procedure: Applicants must submit an online application through Hanover University's website and then apply to the International Education Department at Tokyo Science University.
• Selection Method: Document screening
• Application Deadline:
  • Deadline for application to Hanover University: February 1, 2026
  • Deadline for application to the International Education Department at Tokyo Science University: March 9, 2026

Financial Support

• Participation Fee: EUR 3,150 (including tuition, accommodation, local transportation, and event participation fees)
• Payment Method: Overseas remittance after receiving the acceptance notice from Hanover University. The payment deadline is March 15.
• Scholarship:
  • For students with Japanese nationality or permanent residence:
    • A travel support grant of JPY 90,000 from the Tokyo Science University Fund
    • Eligible students may also receive a JASSO treaty dispatch scholarship of JPY 90,000 per month for three months
  • For students without Japanese nationality or permanent residence:
    • Eligible students may receive a monthly scholarship of JPY 90,000 from the Tokyo Science University Fund, with the day count method following JASSO's guidelines

Academic Credit

• Credit Recognition: Students in the science and engineering fields may be able to earn credits for "International Experience Practice" or similar courses.
