Master of Science in Biomedical Science Program
The Master of Science in Biomedical Science program is an excellent choice for those who aspire to pursue competitive biomedical programs such as MD, PhD, or MD-PhD, or advance their career into leadership roles as clinical lab managers, consultants, research scientists, or associates in biotech, pharma, or clinical settings. Offered by the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, part of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, students will work alongside renowned researchers and educators while gaining access to the largest healthcare network in New York City.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program, applicants must hold an undergraduate degree in science (or a related discipline with adequate science coursework and research experience) from an accredited university or college. Specific requirements include:
- Coursework: At least one year of biology and general chemistry.
- Research Experience: A minimum of three months in translational, computational, or basic science research.
To apply, please submit the following:

- A personal statement and a description of your research experience.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Optional: GRE or MCAT scores as evidence of academic preparedness.

The MSBS program is a diverse and vibrant international program with over 20% of students hailing from a variety of countries across the globe. We welcome applications from qualified individuals worldwide. Applicants from foreign institutions equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree are encouraged to apply. Specific requirements include:
- English Proficiency:
- TOEFL (minimum score: 100) or IELTS (minimum score: 7.5) for non-native English speakers without a degree from an English-speaking institution.
- Test scores must be sent directly to our admissions office.
- Transcript Evaluation:
- International transcripts must be evaluated and translated by SpanTran, World Education Services (WES), or another NACES-approved service.
Tuition and Financial Aid
The program requires 36 credits for graduation, with tuition set at $1,840 per credit (subject to annual adjustments). U.S. citizens or eligible residents may apply for federal financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Financial aid options include:
- Federal Stafford Loans (Unsubsidized and Graduate PLUS loans).
