Ensemble Audition Information

Auditions for ensembles are held at the beginning of each semester. Students may audition for multiple ensembles, and placement is based on ability and ensemble needs.

Community

The School of Music is involved in various community programs and events, including:

• Summer Camps: offering music camps for middle school and high school students
• Youth Programs: including the Oso Musical, Piano Laboratory Program, and BU String Project
• Series and Programs: featuring concerts, recitals, and masterclasses
• Musicians' Health and Wellness: providing resources and support for musicians' physical and mental well-being

Summer Camps

The School of Music offers summer camps for middle school and high school students, including:

• Middle School Band and Orchestra Camp: a week-long camp for students entering grades 7-9
• High School Band and Orchestra Camp: a week-long camp for students entering grades 10-12
• High School All-State Choir Camp: a week-long camp for students preparing for all-state choir auditions
• Summer Piano Institute: a week-long camp for piano students of all ages
• Summer Organ Camp: a week-long camp for organ students of all ages
• Worship Lab: a week-long camp for students interested in worship music and leadership

Middle School Band and Orchestra Camp

The Middle School Band and Orchestra Camp is a week-long camp for students entering grades 7-9. The camp offers:

• Large ensemble rehearsals
• Sectional rehearsals
• Group lessons
• Daily recreational activities
• Evening events and concerts

Eligibility

The camp is open to all students who will enter grades 7-9 during the fall. It is a prerequisite that students have played their instrument for at least one year.

Cost

The cost of the camp is $680 for residential tuition (including room and board) and $490 for commuter tuition (including lunch).

Housing and Meals

Students will be housed in regular Baylor dormitories and will receive all meals in the University dining halls. Roommates will be assigned unless specific roommate requests are made.

Auditions

Each student will be asked to audition for placement in the ensembles for the camp. Students should prepare one selection of their choice and as many major scales as possible for their audition.

Registration Information

Camp enrollment is limited to 400 students and is filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Application for registration must be received no later than May 29, 2026. A non-refundable deposit of $200 must be paid online in concurrence with the registration.
