Master's Degree Program in Mathematics

The Master's Degree Program in Mathematics at the University of Bari is an open-access, two-year program divided into semesters. The program requires the acquisition of at least 120 credits to achieve the title of Master's Degree in Mathematics.


Program Objectives

The objective of the Master's Degree Program in Mathematics is to form flexible and adaptable professionals who can tackle, rationalize, and solve complex problems and exercise high-responsibility functions in various scientific, applicative, financial, service, and healthcare fields. The program also aims to enable students to autonomously increase their competencies, even at an international level.


Program Structure

The program is divided into three orientations:


  • Orientamento Generale (General Orientation)
  • Orientamento in Matematica Applicata e Supporto alla Finanza (Orientation in Applied Mathematics and Financial Support)
  • Orientamento Educazionale (Educational Orientation)

Orientamento Generale

This orientation is designed for students who wish to deepen their knowledge in various areas of mathematics. The courses in this orientation can also be considered preparatory for further studies, such as a Ph.D. in Mathematics or research training periods.


Orientamento in Matematica Applicata e Supporto alla Finanza

This orientation is aimed at students interested in the professionalizing contents of Scientific Computing, with particular reference to economic and financial sciences, and/or the simulation of mathematical models and emerging mathematical techniques of Cryptography, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence.


Orientamento Educazionale

This orientation is designed for students interested in teaching and education. In addition to refining the basic mathematical and physical knowledge acquired with the three-year degree, this orientation provides for the in-depth study of the foundations of Mathematics and the didactic methodologies specific to Mathematics and Physics.
