Program Overview
Introduction to the MSW Program
The School of Social Work operates four distinct MSW programs, including a full-time on-campus program, a 3-year on-campus program, an online/hybrid program, and an Advanced Standing program.
Program Specialization
Our MSW Program has a single area of specialization, which is advanced generalist. This specialization is informed by a Transcultural Perspective (TCP), designed to enhance the educational experience.
Areas of Interest
The TCP is applied to three interconnected areas of interest to build upon the generalist preparation:
- Children, youth, and families
- Mental health
- Health and aging
Advanced Generalist Practice
Preparation for advanced generalist practice is accomplished through educating and training Master of Social Work students with enhanced and expanded competencies and behaviors of advanced generalist practice. This comprehensive approach covers all dimensions, including:
- Knowledge
- Skills
- Values
- Cognitive and affective processes
This structured approach ensures that graduates are well-equipped to handle the complexities of advanced generalist practice, making them versatile professionals in the field of social work.
