Bachelor of Emergency Medical Science with Honors
This degree programme was developed based on collaboration between UKM with Medical Assistant Board, Medical Assistant Association and Medical Assistant Union aimed at producing more graduates with the degree in the field of Assistant Medical Officer. The program started at 2007 and is one of the special programs for Assistant Medical Officer.
Program Overview
The programme is conducted on a full-time basis and coursework. Various methods of teaching are emphasized, such as simulation-based learning, problem-solving, lectures, clinical attachment, and etc. At the end of the programme, students are expected to graduate with competence in the relevant areas of knowledge and clinical skills apart from leadership and communications skills. In this programme, students are also exposed to medical research capabilities. They are required to conduct research with a guide by an expert in the relevant field.

The aim of this programme is to produce a well-rounded skills and knowledgeable in the field of emergency medicine.

Admission Criteria
- Malaysia Student: Applications for full-time study programmes (STPM, Matriculation, STAM, and Diploma/Equivalent) must be submitted via Malaysia's Ministry of Higher Education online application.
- International Student: Non-citizen and international student candidates who are interested in enrolling for the full-time study programmes must submit their applications via UKM online application.

Life at Faculty
Townships
The campus is located in Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur. Another nearby township is Bandar Sri Permaisuri.
Accommodation
Condominiums, apartments, and landed properties are available for renting in both townships. International Youth Centre Residence is within walking distance from the campus and accommodation for short-term stay is available.
Outdoor Recreation and Sport
Taman Tasik Permaisuri (49.4 hectares) is located just beside the campus, providing places for outdoor recreation and sport activities. A public swimming pool and Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium is also located nearby.
Dining
Several cafeterias, coffee shops, and convenient stores are available in-campus. However, if you are running out of choice, there are plenty of eateries and shops in the townships. Locations in campus are also known by food delivery services. A food truck park (Tasik Permaisuri Foodtruck Valley) is also situated within walking distance from the campus for your dinner and supper needs.
Public Transport
The campus is easily reachable via major highways/expressways and public transports including RapidKL buses, LRT, MRT, and KTM Komuter. An integrated modern transportation hub (Terminal Bersepadu Selatan at Bandar Tasik Selatan (TBS-BTS)), which is 5-10-minute drive from the campus, provides multiple options to travel to more than 150 destinations due south, east, and northern Malaysia. TBS-BTS also provides express bus and rail service to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).
Studying
The campus is equipped with two medical libraries, the Clinical Library and the newer Pre-Clinical library. Wifi and computers with internet connection are available in the libraries as well as discussion and multimedia rooms. Various subscribed online resources including journals, databases, and software are available to the students. Free wi-fi is available within the campus for the students.
Besides the Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz that functions as a teaching and tertiary hospital, the Advanced Surgical Skills Centre (ASSC) and Center of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine (CTERM) which are Centre of Excellence are also located within the campus.
Health and Medical Services
Services provided under UKM's teaching hospital, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) including Poliklinik Warga and Klinik Primer are open to UKM students and staff. UKM's Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak (HPKK) will also be operating soon. Besides these, health and medical services can be sought from nearby Klinik Kesihatan Cheras, Hospital Rehabilitasi Cheras, and private clinics in Bandar Tun Razak and Bandar Sri Permaisuri.
