Programme Overview
The Institute of Climate Change (IPI) offers a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) program in the multidisciplinary fields of climate change and space science. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the climate change system and its impact on the environment and economy.
Programme Requirements
To be eligible for the PhD program, applicants must possess:
- A Master's Degree from a recognized university or institution of higher learning
- Other qualifications equivalent to a Master's Degree or relevant experience recognized by the Senate
- A Bachelor's Degree with distinction from a recognized university or institution of higher learning
- Other qualifications recognized by the Senate obtained through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)
English Language Proficiency Requirements
International candidates must fulfill the English language proficiency requirements, which include:
- Obtaining a TOEFL score of 550, IELTS score of 6, or MUET score of 4
- Sitting for an English Proficiency Test (EPT) and passing the English Proficiency Module (EPM) if required
Programme Structure
The PhD program is offered in research mode, with a minimum duration of 6 semesters for full-time students and 8 semesters for part-time students. The program requires students to work closely with faculty members and participate in lab-based or field research in climate change and space science related fields.

Tuition Fees

- Processing Fee: RM 1,000.00
- Student Pass: RM 60.00
- Visa Fee: RM 50.00 (maximum)
- Ikad: RM 50.00
- eVAL: RM 150.00
- Service Tax (6%): RM 78.60
- EMGS Insurance: RM 400.00
- Total: RM 1,788.60 (for local students)
Personal Bond
The personal bond requirements vary depending on the student's nationality, ranging from RM 2000 to RM 1500.
