The Doctor of Philosophy - Dual Degree Program Between UKM and National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) is offered in the field of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics. The program is available in research mode and is offered on a full-time basis.

Research Areas

The Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics (IMEN) offers postgraduate study in the following fields:

• MEMS/NEMS & Nanoelectronics (MEMS)
• Micro and Nanoelectronics System (MINES)
• Nanophotonics & Quantum Electronics (NQE)
• Organic Printed Hybrid Flexible Electronics (OHFEL)
• Microelectronic Packaging & Materials (MIPAC)

Program Requirements

Local Students

To be eligible for the program, local students must possess:

• A Master's Degree from a University or any institution of higher learning recognized by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and/or have accreditation recognized by a foreign Accreditation Body, or an institution with accreditation as prescribed by a programme
• Other qualifications equivalent to a Master's degree or other qualifications with experience recognized by the Senate
• A Bachelor's Degree with distinction from the University or any institution of higher learning subject to what is prescribed by the Faculty/Institute and approval by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and/or with accreditation recognized by a foreign Accreditation Board
• Any other qualification recognized by the Senate obtained through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL)
• Fulfill other requirements prescribed by the program (if applicable)
• Fulfill requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA)

International Students

English Language Proficiency Requirements

International candidates must fulfill the English Language proficiency requirements as follows:

• Obtained TOEFL (550), IELTS(6) or MUET (4) results which fulfill the score or minimum band requirements prescribed by the program
• For certain programs, a candidate is required to sit for an English Proficiency Test (EPT) and if he/she fails to achieve the level specified by the program, the candidate is required to attend and pass the English Proficiency Module (EPM) in a maximum period of two (2) semesters before he is allowed to register for the study program
