Program Overview
Introduction to the University Program
The University program is focused on providing a collaborative and interactive learning experience. A recent workshop, Bengkel Siri 1, was held from October 25 to 26, 2025, which brought together 12 representatives from the Orang Asli Tasik Chini community. The workshop aimed to develop multimodal maps and digital storytelling based on community knowledge.
Program Details
The program is a result of a collaborative grant between the Natural Resources Institute (NRI), University of Greenwich, and Pusat Penyelidikan Tasik Chini (PPTC), UKM. The goal is to produce multimodal maps and digital content that reflect the traditional knowledge, experiences, and cultural perspectives of the Orang Asli community in Tasik Chini.
Program Objectives
- To recognize community knowledge and document natural signs, including flood preparedness
- To explore creative mediums such as interactive maps, i-docs, and digital games
- To develop a collaborative approach to producing digital content that represents the community's identity and knowledge
Program Activities
- The workshop began with a shared vision through introductions to i-docs and storymapping
- Participants discussed and identified important stories, natural signs, experiences, and knowledge to be highlighted
- The group explored potential outcomes, such as digital maps, mapping-based games, and interactive narratives
- Discussions also covered the principles of ethical co-creation and appropriate representation of community identity and knowledge
