Overview

The Bachelor of Science With Honours (Microbiology) programme is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of microbiology, including the diversity of microorganisms, their handling and management, and their applications in various fields.

• Produce graduates with nationalistic aspiration and proficiency in the field of microbiology in support of nation development by adopting ethical values and professionalism.
• Produce graduates who are competent in the knowledge and practice of microbiology and soft skills needed to address local and global issues.
• Capitalize graduates who are ethical, independent, and able to apply the knowledge and skills in the industrial, research, education, and entrepreneurship fields related to materials science.
• Produce graduates who are competitive, innovative, entrepreneurial, possessing leadership characteristics as well as good communication skills in contributing ideas to stakeholders and the community.

Entry Requirement

General Requirement

To be eligible for the programme, applicants must:

1. Complete 12 years of Primary and High School education.
2. Obtain a High School certificate (e.g., Higher Secondary Certificate, Senior Secondary School Graduation Certificate, Tawjihiyah, Ijazah Sekolah Menengah Atas, High School Diploma).
3. Meet the minimum English requirement set by the faculty.
4. Pass the UKM interview (if required).
5. Meet the faculty-specific requirement.

Programme Requirement

The programme requires:

• Malaysian students to meet specific requirements.
• International students to meet specific requirements, including:
  • Required subjects: 3 subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry/Biology.
  • The General Certificate of Education (GCE) Advanced Level: CCC or 96 UCAS Tariff Points (A to D only).
  • International Baccalaureate Diploma: 25 points overall, with a score of 3 in two Higher Level subjects, including Physics, and a score of 4 in Higher Level Mathematics or 5 in Standard Level Mathematics.
  • Country-specific requirements for Higher/Upper Secondary School Certificate (12 years of schooling).
