Program Overview


Urban Scholars Program

The Urban Scholars Program is a unique opportunity for students to gain knowledge and experience while receiving a stipend. The program is designed for students who demonstrate strong academic potential, leadership potential, work ethic, and other talents.


Admission Criteria

To be eligible for the Urban Scholars Program, students must meet the following criteria:


  • Be enrolled in one of the partner schools: Jeremiah E. Burke High School, TechBoston Academy, Excel High School, Dearborn STEM Academy, or Boston International Newcomers Academy.
  • Have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
  • Demonstrate strong academic potential, leadership potential, work ethic, and other talents.

Application Process

The application process for the Urban Scholars Program involves the following steps:


  • Attend an information session to learn more about the program.
  • Submit an application, including an essay, to demonstrate strong academic potential.
  • Participate in an interview with program staff to discuss the application.
  • Provide income verification documentation to determine qualifications.

Program Details

  • Students who are accepted into the program will receive a stipend to support their participation.
  • The stipend is distributed two or three times per semester, depending on the student's completion of required hours or programming.
  • The program is designed to provide students with a unique opportunity to gain knowledge and experience while receiving financial support.
