The New Balance Institute for Innovative Leadership in Sport (I2LS) is a collaborative partnership between UMass Boston and New Balance Athletics, Inc. The institute strives to produce impactful research, education, and programming that advances equity, innovation, performance, and holistic wellness in society through sport.
Research
The institute incorporates a socio-ecological analysis of national data to better understand the barriers and facilitators for positive developmental outcomes. One of the key research areas is the National Black Sport Participation and Physical Activity Report (NBSP2AR), which focuses on Black youth, adolescents, and college students.
