RN-BSN Program Overview
The RN-BSN program at the Cizik School of Nursing is designed to assist registered nurses in attaining the baccalaureate degree. The program requires a minimum of 31 semester credit hours and can be completed in two to five semesters. All RN-BSN students will receive advanced placement credit of 29 hours upon completion of specific courses.
Required Courses for the RN-BSN Degree

- NURS 3511W: Health Assessment (3 hours)
- NURS 3564W: Introduction to Applied Health Informatics (3 hours)
- NURS 3601W: Community Health for RNs (3 hours)
- NURS 3602B: Community Health Project for RNs (2 hours)
- NURS 3701W: Professional Nursing Practice (4 hours)
- NURS 3702W: Issues in Professional Practice (4 hours)
- NURS 3703W: Management and Leadership (4 hours)
- NURS 4512W: Research Critique & Utilization (2 hours)
- NURS 4526W: Role Transition for RNs (2 hours)
- NURS 3704W: Synthesis: Application for change into Practice for RNs (4 hours)
Advanced Placement Credit
RN-BSN students will receive Advanced Placement Credit for the following didactic and clinical courses upon successful completion of NURS 3701W, NURS 3702W, NURS 3703W, and NURS 3704W:
- NURS 3515: Adult Health Care I (3 hours)
- NURS 3515B: Adult Health Care I-Clinical (2 hours)
- NURS 3521: Gerontologic Nursing (2 hours)
- NURS 3523: Adult and Older Adult Healthcare II (4 hours)
- NURS 3523B: Adult and Older Adult Healthcare II - Clinical (2 hours)
- NURS 3526: Psychiatric & Mental Health Care (4 hours)
- NURS 3526B: Psychiatric & Mental Health Care - Clinic (2 hours)
- NURS 3532: Reproductive Health Care (4 hours)
